What is the SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE Series?

The GhostLight Players proudly announces our SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE; a monthly series of stage readings designed to highlight works chosen by our team which we believe need the preverbal "spotlight".

If you are unfamiliar with what a “stage reading” is, it is pretty what it sounds like… but more! It is a form of theatre where actors act out a script aloud for an audience with little to no sets, props, costumers, or memorization (these items vary per performance based on what is needed). It is an excellent way for theatres to try out/test new works, or reintroduced older lesser known/produced plays.

Sometimes a show just doesn't register with an audience the first time around or were once popular, but rarely gets produced today. These plays need to be "rediscovered" and the Spotlight Showcase hopes to accomplish just that! Or simply put, we just like the darn thing...

GhostLight Players hope to accomplish with the SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE series the following goals:

· Introduce ourselves to a new audience

· Grow our audience and membership

· Highlight little-known or seldom produce plays that theatre companies may not produce due to lack of audience familiarity.

· Have a fun and laid-back night of entertainment.

The Showcase will not be limited to just established plays, but will also be opened up periodically to spotlight new and exciting plays from up and coming playwrights (further details will be provided shortly).

Based on audience responses, should the readings prove successful, a fully produced stage production could be considered in the future.
